STIT Focus Group with students from Constanta, Romania

On 22nd of December 2022 we organised a focus group within the Erasmus+ project Smart Tools for Inclusive Teaching – STIT at Carol I Commercial College in Constanta, Romania. The group comprised of 10 students and among them four have DSA and two have sensory disabilities so the activity tried to involve all participants inclusively.  They were welcomed by a facilitator and a moderator with a short ice-breaking game that was used to get the group encouraged and ready to participate. The facilitator was Conf. Univ. Dr. Nicoleta Acomi and the moderator the teacher Zoia Bencu. After the ice-breaking game, the students were then asked the focus group questions and their verbal answers were collected by note-taking. The organizers handed out promotional materials, focus group question sheets, badges and certificates of participation.

The participants were invited to have an open dialogue and a relaxed atmosphere during the activity. They were informed that the main topic of discussion was the distance learning experience and that based on their answers new educational materials will be developed within the Erasmus+ STIT project. Everyone answered the moderator’s questions and we learned what types of devices and tools they prefer in online education and what best attitude teachers can have while structuring their online course.
