Promoting inclusive education, December 2023, Romania

On the 14th of December, we had the pleasure of welcoming many guests to the multiplier event of the Erasmus+ project STIT – “Smart Tools for Inclusive Teaching in VET”. Teachers and representatives of educational institutions from Constanta county, Romania met the project team to learn about the latest education techniques developed within Erasmus+ projects.

The event started at 14.00 with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Violeta Ciucur, Rector of the Constanta Maritime University, the host of the event. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nicoleta Acomi, project manager of the STIT project spoke about the opportunities of the Erasmus programme and lifelong learning, with examples from the implementation of the STIT project. The results of the STIT project were explained, including a series of practical demonstrations of the impact that accessibility training can have on trainers, teachers, educators and tutors’ professionality. Among the results:

During the conference, participants discussed the value of the project results to ensure equal access to information, and education as well as equal rights and opportunities for all. In response to the need to integrate accessible tools into classes, Nicoleta Acomi presented flipped classroom methodology and how this was piloted during local focus groups and integrated into classes. Moreover, participants were provided with access to the online training course for VET teachers developed in a highly accessible manner with video lessons and engaging intercative moments.

Concluding the event, the feedback received confirmed that the project was a resounding success, bringing together relevant stakeholders to boost their professional development process through the use of innovative digital tools.
